The Indian Railways have invited suggestions from the trade towards a draft Special Parcel Train Operators (SPTO) policy. Anticipating a large migration of cargo from road to rail given the frequent fuel price hikes, congestion on highways and restrictions on dimensions and overloading, a draft policy was announced. The Indian Railways expect a large number of specialised rakes for carrying parcel cargo to be introduced by the trade. The RDSO had already announced their approved design for such wagons.
